October 2007 - August 2008

2007 was a challenging year full of change and personal upheaval. In October of 2007 I sold my home and moved to Zagreb, Croatia for about 10 months. I went there to work with my artistic partners form the Croatian Tales of Long Ago project. This time we were collaborating on an experimental project inspired by the life and work of Nikola Tesla. My work on this project involved mostly stop motion animation and digital animation. I also had the opportunity to do a great deal of unexpected travel to Italy, Estonia, Austria, Slovenia, and most surprising, Japan.

2006

January
Jelly Beans is a new pixel art piece I have been working on for a couple of months. It's for Sweet Tooth: The Craving Continues at Argyle Fine Art. The Opening reception is on Friday, February 2nd, 7pm-9pm.

I have been making pixel art Jelly Beans, thirty in all, but the flavours are rather unusual. I am making four prints for the show. One large print (16.5 x 19 in) which includes all thirty jelly bean designs, and three smaller prints (11 x 11in) which feature nine jelly beans each (so all of the prints will be different). If I make more jelly bean prints in the future, it will only be after I have created some new bean designs, so any new prints will also be different. Meanwhile, Deanna has been working on a hooked rug called Kitty's Cupcake Express (23 in x 23 in) for the same show.

2005

November
The grand opening for edspace studio and gallery will be Saturday, Nov 19 from 10:00am to 5:00pm, ay 1518 Dresden Row, Halifax, NS.

October
Once again our house is under going renovations. The roof is all new and we are now completing the upper floor bathroom. The new studio/gallery downtown is working out nicely. My paintings are selling and I am enjoying it much more than I thought I would.

We had another incredible trip to Croatia in the summer. It was even better than our first stay there!

June
It has been a busy spring away from the computer for me. I have been painting -- not digital paintings but real actual paintings on canvas -- and creating found object sculptures. I am creating this material to sell in my new studio/gallery space downtown. That's right, after about a decade of working at home in front of the computer I am taking a new direction. My new place is called "Ed Space Studio + Gallery" and is located on the top level at 1518 Dresden Row in downtown Halifax. This is a huge change for me and I am looking forward to it.

In other news, Deanna and I are very excited because we will be returning to Croatia to meet up with our "Croatian Tales" friends! Weeeha! More about this later.
